Sin Chew Media Corporation Bhd and Nanyang Press Holdings Bhd, which will be transformed into a global Chinese media giant upon the completion of its merger with Hong Kong-based Ming Pao Enterprise Corporation Ltd to make inroads into North America and China, beside Malaysia and HongKong.
The possibility of the expanding into non-print media including television and radio, when the merger is completed by the first quarter of 2008.
The top four Malaysian Chinese dailies namely Sin Chew Daily, Guang Ming Daily, Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press, editorial department will remain independent in order to retain its characteristics.
Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King who owns all three companies will assume the executive chairman position.
